Cutting Weight Gone / Weigh In Day Of.....
In my opinion, the best thing that could ever happen to the sport, would be having fighters weigh in the day of fights, and avoid them dropping 15-20lbs of water, just to be way bigger than the actual weight limit of that class.
If the weigh in was the day of (3-4 hrs before fight time), think of how different all the weight classes would be. And the different match ups we would get to enjoy, watching actual same or similar sized fighters face off. Would be great!
If a fighter weighs 168lbs on avg, he should not have to fight at 55, because the competition walks around at 180-190lbs!! He should be WW where the MAX is 170!! Not MINIMUM!!! And that guy who walks around at 180-190 should be a Middleweight!!! But right now he can't, because the other Middleweigts walk around at 200+ lbs. And on and on goes this useless cycle to see, who can cut the most amount of water-weight.
Guys like Urijah Faber can't fight in the UFC, because there is no 145 devision. But this guy probbaly cuts to make that weight, but is too small, because the 55ers in UFC are natuarally 170+ and Should be WW!!!
All thee fighters everyday, are moving down weight classes because they "Too Small".... BS, they are the ones who SHOULD be in that weight class....
Anyways, I'm sure lots will disagree, and that's ok. We are all entitled to our opinions, but I personally would love to see the weigh-ins just a couple hours before. So that if you walk around at 172lbs or something minuscule, than cut a simple 2 lbs, which is just a technicality, not a cheat....
I'd love to hear some other POV's on this.

Well, I know a lot of commissions (as do I) believe it to be more dangerous.
" From: Commissioner Hazzard

Subject: Weigh-Ins for Championship Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Kickboxing Matches
We do not agree that moving the weigh-in to the day of the event is the proper solution. In theory, we agree with the concept, but the practical reality dictates the opposite conclusion. A weigh -in on the day of the event will only increase the chances of seeing a dehydrated fighter competing during the event. While this approach may be successful in other sports like amateur or collegiate wrestling, these competitors are not subject to repeated blows to the head and are not trained by individuals who derive substantial revenue from a percentage of the fighter's purse."

^^ "I Hate You" That's a valid argument, but that's assuming the theory does not work, and we still have fighters cutting a dangerous amount of water to make weight.
But them knowing how dangerous it would be, might actually encourage them to fight in their natural weight classes, thus creating a whole new cycle of how people handle the situation.

Day-of weight-in's are bad for everyone involved. Fighters put themselves at more risk and the fans get to watch dehydrated fighters gas themselves walking to the cage/ring.

Not to mention that as is, it's a dangerous thing to be doing. My point is to not just weigh in the day of, but also NOT CUT WEIGHT unless it's a tiny non-dangerous amount.
Fights like Henderson vs Silva, people wonder if Henderson could have performed better, if he didn't spend the last 48hrs losing and re-gaining 15+lbs!!! But that's the point. Guys like this should not ever consider fighting in a 185 class, when you walk around at 200+
Drives me insane, the vicious cycle.

I don't see how it would change much. Guys like GSP would still be fighting guys like Hughes, Serra etc, they just wouldn't have to cut weight. They might have to change the weight classes then and that might fuck things up. I mean the way it is now, a guy like BJ Penn can fight a bigger guy like Hughes/GSP without having to gain any weight and get slower. The way it is now it allows for the true warriors to challenge bigger guys
Well i guess the difference would be there wouldn't be guy walking around at like 200 cutting to 170, but the best guys in each weight class don't cut the most IMO.

Weigh in 1 week before fight at a randomly tested time using skinfold testing and scales, then regular weigh ins as usual. If there is a greater than 5% body weight change, then catch weight thrown in. If someone had to cut weight twice in one week and keep the weight down, they would beat the shit out of their bodies and would perform on a much lower scale.
