I would agree, and say Bas Rutten is a giant lying bastard, but that's fighter bashing.

Bas can't lie.

I don't consider myself an elite fighter, but I train hard and run from time to time.

My first mile in the last 5k race I did was 5:39. It slowed down from there, but I'm 5'9" and he's 6'2"ish and an elite athlete. I have little doubt that if I can do it for 6, he can do it for 10.

I think this is the right answer, 11kph is very normal warmup speed.
Bas is originally european also.

Thank you. Maybe this will end the insanity.

To the guys who can't stop nuthugging, look at what Bas said and think about it. Not only is that "warm-up" unrealistic, it's fucking stupid. Even if he COULD do it, and I agree with the threadstarter it's totally unrealistic, it would hardly prime the heart in the 120-160 range, eh?

But then, you fuckheads don't know shit about training because you don't.

Bas doesn't run on a treadmill, the treadmill runs from Bas!

He says that he does 11 m.p.h. on the treadmill for 10 minutes while warming up. This is the euivalent to running 5:30 per mile pace. Being that I am a former D1 collegiate runner, I beyond skeptical of Bas, a heavyweight fighter over 40 with various ailments, being able to sustain that pace for 3 minutes, nonetheless 10. To put this in perspective...If you run under 10 minutes for the 2 mile in high school, you will be in the top 10 in your state. You could feasibly get a scholarship to a school in order to run on their track team. Sure, people will say that he's a professional athlete and all, but if he ran this as a warm-up, as he claims, he would be spent and unable to do the other hour of his warm up.

I only point this out just to demystify a guy who people see as doing no wrong. I like the guy a lot, but just make sure that you take his (and other pros) advice as that, advice, and not gospel.
11mph is the spped of the belt, not the runner. I own a tread mill, and used to be an avid runner. My wife is a great runner and her tunover is as fast as mine, but since my stride is longer I kill her in a race.

10 minutes @ 11mph is fast, too fast for me to enjoy, but I think it's possible if its flat
