Because the Japanese must be racists, except when it comes to white people, they love white people

You have to remember that all Japanese are metrosexual, Thai-hating, epicures. Nevermind the fact that we're the ones paying money so that top fighters can actually make a living. It's impossible for a Japanese person to actual respect, let alone understand martial arts.

Racism has very little to do with Yod not being called in. The average Japanese hates Koreans, but Korea is very well represented in K-1. The simple fact of the matter is that Yod isn't considered marketable. He just doesn't have what's considered "flair", and it's not like Thailand is a huge market for K-1.

I'm sure he could create some "flair" by knocking most of their stable out...

Doesn't matter.

Strength and skill are required for "flair" ("hana" in Japanese), but they aren't the only things. Sato fought Masato pretty evenly, but he isn't as tenths popular as him. Schilt has loads of KOs, but people still rag on him for being un-championlike. You have to remember that all the major Japanese organizations are shown on public TV, and are thus aimed towards viewers who only tune in when nothing else good is on. That's why a guy like Nagashima would get more coverage than a more legit contender like Sato.

Yod is fantastic to watch and he's more than a match for most of even the Final 8 guys, but I still doubt that he could really develop into a star.

I guess i just dont get the japanese perspective on this he is a very big thai who also has great boxing to go along with one of the hardest rnd kicks in the game. He has alot of personality in the ring often times makinf faces kinda taunting opponents. could it really be that he isnt handsome enough? your right about schilt not getting enough attention or respect because of his lack of flair I wonder if this is really the case I do hope Masato takes over man it makes no damn sense for Yod to not be fighting in Max

It's not always about who is best. Look at Brock Lesnar's early title shot in the UFC and the Super Monster GP in Dream. It is what "the people" wants even though it hurts the sport.

His last fight, he used more punch-kick combinations than he usually does. Maybe that's his way of sending a message to the K-1 brass that he can cut it?

not all Japanese are racist, including me. For most of all the main racist are the western countries which always doubt the talent of the asians.

I still have a hard time believing its a racist barrier. I lived (and trained) shortly in japan and for the most part every1 was great I did see my fair share of racism. Is it racism towards other asian fighters? it seems they apprciate dutch fighters and especially black fighters. I am a black male and generally it seemed they were either captivated by me or didnt like me at all maybe was just the area i was in
