because Japan is a big coutry also many martial art so they don't accepted to see small countries which countries have best martial art than them.
a half of gym in japan have thai trainners the most Japanese came to learn muaythai from Thailand but when they go back to Japan they call kick boxing instead muaythai.

Before Masato Practiced kick boxing after he has thai trainner Around 10 years ago. he is a Lumpinee Champion names Nerttarane who his trainner of Masato in any match . Masato has thai flag Clothes pinion boxer on his arm. Anyway he is kick boxing why he has to put thai flag clothes pinion boxer on his arm or maybe he worried Mr.Sato because tanikawa don't want to be his support.

Hiroya is stand-in of Mazato to learn boxing in Thailand the most japanese fighting want to learn thai boxing but when they go to fighting they call kick boxing instead thai boxing

because kick boxing created by japanese .
If Thailand became champion it not help japanese business and Thai people don't have Copyright so it better let big countries become champion for help japan business .
For the example Korea have2-3 fighter join in k 1. who go fighting in K1 if Thailand want thai boxer go to that match they have to tell everybody about they are karate fighter maybe they can have 2 thai go to k1 or Thai have to copy korea holland have copyright for all business.

masatp has been training and fighting in thailand yes, and shows his respect with the thai colors.
And big country or not, they have plenty of Dutch fighters in MAX.

Its simple they just want 1 thai in max.Fuji chalmsak fought few fights for k1 and in the end they put him against buakaw and we never see Fuji again lol

Actually Fuji retired and lives and works in Japan as a Muay Thai coach. Which is the main reason you don't see him any more.

I think it was back in the 70s a Japanese guy opened up a gym in Thailand made it all fancy like. So he was getting interviewed by the Thais and he was talking about how the Japanese invented Kick Boxing talking about Kick Boxing not Muay Thai but the Thais took it the wrong way needless to say that gym didn't stay open long. The Japanese brought over alot of Thais back in the day to teach them Muay Thai so they could mix it in with their Karate and form their own style of standup fighting. The olden days of Japanese Kickboxing looked alot like Muay Thai had elbows and neck wrestling that all changed though. The point is the Japanese photo copied Muay Thai back in the day but called it Kickboxing but it all changed and got watered down now we got what os out there today.

The Japanese are the only ones to have legit stadium champs of any foreign country. And no I do not mean Takeda.

Holland, the UK, France and Australia have not accomplished this.

Also what Japan often calls kickboxing has knees and elbows and clinch. In fact K-1 is among the few promotions over there that don't have basically FTR.

Fujiwara FTW fuck it pisses me off to no end when the video of him on youtube winning the Raja belt is labeled Karate vs Muay Thai he is a Muay Thai fighter. I am pretty sure Mourad Sari won a Lumpinee belt

Japan definately doesn't consider itself to be a big country, and it doesn't really have a problem with the Netherlands (smaller than Thailand too methinks) dominating K-1.

But a lot of japanese people kinda look down on the thai, they won´t ever let two thai fighters dominate the scene and they won´t substitute Buakaw with another thai, because they would lose a lot of their female audience...

Tanikawa implied that he might though, after Sato beat Buakaw.
