....as a fucking joke.

After the rule alterations, the change in tournament format, and incredibly controversial judging all in favor of Masato, I don't see how he really goes down as a legend. His 2008 title is mired in controversy.

If Masato doesn't duck Petroysan, I hope he gets KFTO - because knowing K-1 it'll go to a BS extension an/or the judges will creatively tabulate the score in Masato's favor.

I see it going ^^ this way also. I am still very angry with Japan after the Buakaw/Souwer fight.

Masato is asked for it to be made a longer fight to ensure a KO. He's a man very conscious of how he looks in the eyes of the audience, and I doubt he'll accept a retirement on anything other than decisive victory.

Masato =/= Musashi

The only major BS decision he had was his extra round with Buakaw.

People complain about his 1st fight with Zambidis, Sato, Kyshenko being controversial, yet more people would complain had Masato not get the win.

If K-1 Max loves anybody, its for sure Kraus. His fight with Masato in 02 GP was closer than people think, hes won BS decisions over Buakaw and Jadamba

I agree I though he edged out the 1st, 2nd and 4th against sato and the 1st, 3rd and 4th against kyshenko.

Giving him an extra round with buakaw was a disgrace but only made it worse for him by prolonging his beating in 04. It looked like he seriously close to getting finished with a knee or low kicks.

Masato is already a legend.

Petrosyan has never fought anyone like Masato, and the idea of Petrosyan beat Souwer, Souwer beat Masato so therefore Petrosyan will beat Masato is nonsense.

Petrosyan's counter fighter style will be mostly ineffective against Masato. He throws flurries of immensely powerful, fast and completely random punches.

Masato will beat Petrosyan decisively. Petrosyan will not KO Masato, nobody ever has.

Plus, Masato will be completely fresh. A fresh Masato has VERY rarely been bested, the last time being in 2000 (almost a decade ago). The only thing that has stopped Masato winning EVERY Max tournament is the accumulation of injuries.

I do not see Masato losing on NYE, he will be fresh and fully prepared for Petrosyan.

See, for this reason I feel that in ways Masato's nationality is his main enemy.

Whenever he wins a close, but well deserved decision victory, there are people like you who resort to the old, "He's Japanese, that's the only reason he won" nonsense. Masato deserves far more recognition that many people give him, the results would have been the same regardless of his nationality.

You can't take anything away from the man, he is a living legend.
