K1 needs to bring in someone new
Most K1 followers probably agree that Semmy Schilt is an unwelcome champion of the sport, even if he has decent skill for his size.
I think Schilt is bad for the sport in general because it seems like he K1 management is so concerned with finding a way to beat him, that they dont bring in new talent.
Rather they hold on to their old warriors Aerts, Lebanner, Hunt and now Ignashov hoping that one of the can get a lucky win. They even brought in the other dutch giant. Guess what? Theyre not going to beat him, all of them had their chance, come on has Ignashov even fought for how long?
Theyve tried changing the rules, disallowing clinch and knees, which in general made sport less exciting.
Instead what were left with is a band of old fighters who were once great, but are now as big as they are slow.
K1 needs to get over themselves, and start bringing in fresh talent, fighters who has something to prove, who doesnt neccesarily have familys with kids to think about.
If Schilt is going to be beaten its going to be by an up and comer, someone who will come with heart and some naivety.
Right now i only see Badr Hari, MAYBE, being able to get a win if he bulks up and toughens up. But there has to be more guys like him out there.
I refuse to believe that Lebanner, Aerts, Ray Sefo and so on, are still the top of the list.
Bring in the new generation!

How about K-1 starts by, you know, broadcasting thier shows to a wider audience. Most of us can't even see any of this unless we do some internet magic.

I kind of agree on some points.
I like schilt but i think now, after hunt, there is no one for him to really beat. He will get beat again but it seems like he's the top guy and has done it all. Its almost worth it to get rid of the OWGP's they have every year and just make belts like everyone else does. (i know they have a heavyweight/super heavyweight but they almost mean nothing compared to the GP belt) Im not sure what they could do, they have some up and comers but it seems like they are trying to force big tall guys in to take schilt when there are much better mid-sized fighters ready to fight. They wouldnt beat schilt but would make for more entertaining fights against other fighters.

His hands are good, but his stand up war with former K1 contender Mirko is a good indicator of what would happen to him in K1.

I agree...
I think the latest event showed hope for the future elite..
Atila Karacs.
Tyrone Spong.
Brian Douwes.
Zabit Samedov.
Gohkan Saki.
Erroll Zimmermann.
Wery good skilled fighters.. We still have Hari, Ignashov ect. ect who is still young.
Maybe one of them will punch Schilt into retirement someday.. Not taking away anything from Schilt.. Hes a great Champ

man, Schilt...
his mid/long range attacks are amazing, but in close distance he folds and resorts almost only to his knees, which are powerfull but slow.
the most effective gameplan, as i see it, would be to close distance, small combo, go back, repeat. just score enough for a decision, since KOing the man will be almost impossible at this point.

If Cro Cop beats Jerome Le Banner, considering that fight happens, I would like to see Schilt go against Mirko. I would also enjoy watching Schilt try and avenge his loss to Ignashov. Plus, if you give Badr Hari a few years he could really grow into a good kickboxer.
