You should look into it, it's about 130 miles from Bangkok so it's a pretty far drive, but I think it would be worth it.
THank you, Sityodtong is on my list as a possibility. I actually live in MA and have been to Mark Dellegrate's gym. Unfortunatly it's too far a hike to make it my every day gym so i haven't gone back

I have looked into fairtex as well, the only thing i could see that i didn't like was that it was kind of pricey for me. Unfortunatly, i have a budget!

My wife and I have been thinking of taking a similar trip.

But I was in Phuket like 10 years ago...really a party town, bars and hookers etc...etc..beautiful beaches and for my then early 20's ass a good time.

But to train and fight, we were going to look elsewhere. Although, when it comes to training I think you'll get out of it what you put into either way.

We'll probably find somewhere up north to train for a couple of weeks and hit phuket to rest a little on the beach afterwards.

Good luck, have a safe trip and train hard!!

Kaoklai and Buakaw don't train at Fairtex....

Not sure where Kaoklai trains at but Buakaw has his own gym called Por Pramuk....

Fairtex does have Yodsenklai, Narupol, Kaewand Attachai and Telek....A few more top class fighters but I can't recall their names...

Yes, I highly recommend Tiger. Their definitely gender friendly, affordable, and they have a really good MMA/ Muay Thai program; to my knowledge they are the only school that trains both MMA and MT. Also, the owner is an American and their MMA trainer(Ray Elbe) was really cool and helpful. I trained at Rawaii Muay thai for six uneventful/unproductive weeks. I then switched camps to Tiger for six additional weeks. The difference was night and day. Rawaii was very unorganized and the majority of the instructors seemed not to care about their students progress. Though, at Rawaii I did notice a bias towards female trainees(They seemed to get more attention than the guys). Also, Phuket Muay Thai is the original gym for foreigners. I heard good things about them and the training centers in Ko Samui as well. If you have to choose btw Bangkok and Phuket. I would definitely go with Phuket. Bangkok is very metropolitan with lot's of noise, pollution, and terrible traffic. Phuket is the polar opposite quite, relaxing, clean with beautiful beaches. Though, the closest beaches are about 20 minutes away. If you have any other ?'s You can contact me at ragtop60k@hotmail.com

Man what do you guys do for a living? I can barely get 2 weeks off.I work for the man.I definitely would go train at Tiger regardless of all the distractions.

Bangkok is where the best fighters are though, its not the nicest place to stay but its the muay thai capitol of the world, Phuket is full of tourist gyms like Tiger Muay Thai because its a vacation island, but like I said before you can get good training at lots of camps as long as you work hard, and just because its a gym for forgeigners doesnt mean you can't get plenty out of the experience, but the atmosphere and the people training at the camp are different, also you can train Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts at Tiger Muay Thai, Legacy Gym in Ubon, Bangkok Fight Club and Pedro Lott from Brazilian Top Team was teaching brazilian jiu jitsu in chiang mai at chay yai gym for a while, I don't know the current status of their BJJ program but the website says hes still there (you never know though they dont update those things often!), but Tiger Muay Thai has a decent MMA program if there are serious MMA guys training there, and I know alot of people say "why train MMA in Thailand?" but its nice to mix muay thai and mma, but you never know who is at the camp

I appreciate your time! And you've helped me decide not to go to Tiger Muay Thai, but i do have to agree with you... they're site's the best i've come across! Its done well, and grabs the attention (not that i would expect a great school to) Thanks again!
I wouldn't let this guy's opinion change your mind. Tiger was tight and I trained there. I would definitely give it a look over. There is also a school about 1km away from Tiger that is smaller that predominately trains Thai fighter. But it is open to everyone. I cant remember the name. It may be Chalong Muay Thai. They host fights and it's behind a convenience store across the street from the Phuket zoo(I know it sounds shady).
