Rob Kamen in K-1 and Japan

Was he retired when K-1 came out and was he famous in Japan in the 1980's considering K-1 was not about then and Kickboxing wasn't as popular as it was in the 1970's and what it became in the 1990's.
It's a shame K-1 never happend in the 1980's.

he beat jean yves (theriault)

kickboxing was way more mainstream in the 80s than the 70s......even had a cover of sports illustrated ....thurman vs theriault fight....

in the late 80s money got better and surprise every dog and pony show ran kickboxing events...(sound familiar mma fans)
