Absolutly right, Remy has managed through the years to be successful with a very uncommited style, zero boxing and just one skilled leg, has got a good chin though, that's his merit.

I think that most people who saw Remy win the 2003 and 2004 tournaments would agree with me that at the time he looked like the next big thing for the following years. The man had it all: KO's, nice kicks, good combo's, an athletic style and he didnt fight for decisions, he went in for the KO.

Now the last few years (2005-2007) Remy saw his personal life change a bit: marriage shot to hell, didnt get to see his kid for some time, a break up with his longtime trainer, the search for a new gym/trainer and the loss of his mom. I dont find it surprising that he didnt perform well during the last two years (he won most of his fights but not in the way you knew him to).

Now, in 2008, I think Remy is allmost back. He's done some soulsearching, he looks focused (fights against Hari, Aerts and Manhoef) and the knees are back! If he can keep up with the good work I see him as a finalist in Tokio for the next 2-5 years.

I don't have anything against Remy in fact he is one of the fairest kickboxers out there, very good sportsmanship, but his style haven't evolved a bit, he just covers his face and throws right kicks, and its always easy to knee your opponent when he is 15 cm shorter. He plays way too safe, and is not well rounded.

Haha if all he had to do was keep swinging why didnt he do it? because he knew it was a matter of time before he got knee'd in the head (notice how quick he was to purposely fall to the ground that one time when Remy went for the clinch, which was a smart move because Remy dropped him with the same knee when he got up). Desperately swinging for the fences is not owning someone on the inside, I give tons of props to melvin for getting in there, and doing as well as he did, but he was outclassed.
Bravo.

Let's just leave the fan bias out for a second, the guy has got good athleticism for a HW, but those are typical muay thay kicks, no hip movement, if you are impressed by those kicks, you ain't seen much martial arts. The reason Remy keeps jogging on his feet balls all the time is because its easier for him to jump and kick than to use his hips.
