Mourad Sari's lumpinee belt?
I was after some information about Mourad Sari's lumpinee championship. I understand it was financed through french t.v. channel canal+, and that there is controversy regarding the level of opposition he faced in order to get the title?, if anyone could elaborate, or perhaps give information regarding promoter (I assume Songchai for some reason) or date that would be fantastic!

promoter was Songchai who has always worked with Sari's Promoter Sami Kebchy in recent years with the Kings birthday shows along with Canal+
There were two Lumpini titles on the line that night with France's Stefan Nikema, who fought Nungtrakan, but this fight was a no contest due to Nungtrakan being disqualified for not fighting to the required standards.

Don't really know about this, but this seems to be what he is talking about?
'Which titles did you win?
I won 3 titles of France champion, I was 3 times European champion and world champion, and the WPKN title which is an european title. And the Lumpinee title that that I did not obtain for various reasons, the principal one being that 2 belts could not leave the country at the sametime and as Mourad Sari fought before me, it was him which had the right to have it.
I won by KO but they said that there was a Lom Muay which means that the fighter would have been paid to lose which is wrong and impossible. Furthermore, I fought him some months before and I hurted him. The only title in the world that everybody want to have is a belt from Rajadamnoem or Lumpinee. There is 2 or 3 belts which were out of Thailand in 50 years : Fujiwara 30 years ago and Mourad Sari. This belt was my life dream. I won it but didn’t have it. That’s my worst memory, I couldn’t sleep for several nights. I made big sacrifices to have it. In 1999 I go under 67 kg while some years before I boxed in 76-77 kg. To be at 66 kg while I’m 1,88 meters, I had to eat only boiled rice for a moment.'

when Nungtrakan was disqualified the referee would announce that he was not fighting to the correct level, could be due to him being paid off, but doubt that too, but could be for other reasons, he may have not been able to train and told to fight even though injured, far from impossible and it is done in Thailand to prevent problems with the gamblers, not because they wanted to keep the title or anything like that, there would be a lot of money bet and if one fighter is not preforming as he should then it will be ruled a no contest and all bets are then off.

Anorak, you wouldn't be able to give me information regarding Sari's opponent?, Neungtrakarn Por. Muang Ubon was a worthy opponent for a lumpinee belt, however i seem to remember reading something about Sari's opponent being below par.
On another note, obviously both Frenchmen were fantastic fighters, however i would like to know if either of them fought and beat lumpinee ranked thai's of any note before challengin for their respective titles?
