As much as I like Petrosyan, and recognize his enormous skill-set, I'd really like Masato to go out on top.

Might seem like a waste, seeing as it would take away from Petrosyan's hype and Masato would just retire, but it would be nice to see a retiree go out in the spotlight for once. Calzaghe was nice to see.

I have yet to feel any sympathy for Petrosyan but Masato needs to lose. It's only fair.

After the event, reporters caught up with FEG president Tanigawa who was present at the event. Tanigawa talked about Masato’s retirement opponent and said that they want to decide on an opponent this week.

Of course a candidate is this years champion Giorgio Petrosyan, but Tanigawa says that after visiting a doctor after returning home for a detailed check, it has became clear that Petrosyan has a bone fracture in his right hand.

Other candidates are Andy Souwer, Buakaw Por.Pramuk, and Yoshihiro Sato. Tanigawa himself, not surprisingly, wants Sato as Masato’s opponent.

They want to make an announcement on Thursday or Friday this week.

Better Sato than Souwer ...but of course Buakaw would be best. Maybe we get to vote on another one of those bogus polls?
