Watched the fight again, and indeed it's the effect of the knees to the liver. Only thing Buakaw did was hold his arms forward in hope Sato of all people couldn't reach him

In fact. Souwer, Kraus, Sato and Masato can take a huge amount of punishment as well. Both head and body area seems unbreakable, where Souwer is the one I can say have the weakest chin of them all. Both Kraus and Sato are the kind of fighters always taking a lot of blows during a fight. They are the toughest fighters in Max. Masato and Buakaw I believe have always been training hardest of them all. And hard training does help the ability to deal with punishment.

People tend sometimes to forget these fighters are insane tough and accurate. Sometimes they go down. It proofs the high quality and competition.

So, no more talk about Buakaw having a weak chin. Please.
True! That's a big part of what makes K1 Max such a spectacle 2 watch and follow. And it would even be better if they'd allow 2-3 extra thai's in.

At least let Yod in. It could be fantastic to have both him and Buakaw in the tournament the next 2 years.

The fantastic thing with these mentioned fighters is that they can hit hard and take a punch. This balance between toughness and accuracy makes nearly every fight in a final 8 a firework to watch.

K1-Max is cool to watch.

Funny, that is Alistair Overeem's size. I didn't think Lewis was quite that big, it must have been the slightly soft build that hid it.

The fight was awesome and close. It just points in the direction of you belonging back to K-1 Max ranks. You could win it for sure.

I wanted to make an observation on the differing styles JWP used in his last 2 fights. Also hello John and thanks for posting.

In the fight against Zambidis I noticed Parr was balancing himself differently. In this fight he really kept his weight on his back foot and was in a more boxing style stance. You could see the weight on the back leg and he kept his knees bent. I think this was the reason for the great hooks and seemed to me to have a lot more power in them. Parr to me was fighting in more of a Yodsanklai style, which is 1 of the boxing stances. There are different ones.

Also the game plan he utilized in that Zambidis fight was a very good one. Zambidis often ends up slapping his opponents with his hooks, most likely because of his short arm length and inability to keep the proper distance. Parr outboxed the boxer and utilized the left leg kicks to shutdown the right arm and keep his opponent off balance. I was little confused as to why I didn't see the same in thing in the Buakaw fight. They are completely different fighters of course but I did expect to see the same kind of foot work in that fight.

One of the best things about Parr is his ability to up the combos and action in later rounds when he realizes he may be down on points. Very few fighters are willing to take that risk or have the will to overcome that obstacle.

Hi Stuff,
I wish I could have used the same style as the Zambidis fight with Buakaw but then I would have been killed. As you would of seen everytime I tried to kick Buakaws body he would grab and sweep that is why I ended up kicking the legs so much. After Buakaws last few fights I was hoping I could make him mad so we could turn it into a boxing fight then I think I would of got the upper hand. Buakaw kept to his guns though using his right kick and teep keeping me from landing more then one or two shots at a time. I landed some pretty hard punches but Buakaw came well prepared and took them well coming straight back.
Every fight is different and need a new game plan for everybody, Buakaw is so well rounded was hard to find the gaps in his defence. Oh well, if the chance comes to fight him again will do a bit more home work and make sure I dont make the same mistake again.
