I think both styles are very efficient. I like to watch Kyokushin fighters in K-1 because their fighting style, besides being functional, is very aesthetically pleasing (e.g. Andy Hug, Francisco Filho, Glaube Feitosa).

Depends on the rules. If K-1 then Muay Thai.

karate is ok but after doing tkd and doing forms, impractical blocks, chambering punches, useless stances, etc. I don't enjoy it that much,

I mean in real combat a horse stance isnt going to be useful.

They need to strip it of forms and such and focus on the fighting.

I like MT because of its simplicity.

please see my above post, i do agree MT, is the most practical art because in a lot of street fights you will get clinched. taht is why i prefer it. along with "western" boxing. but i do have a few moves from TMAs (my wife is a red belt in TKD) so she has shown me a few kicks taht i have found effective

OK, the way he blocked is more leaning toward Karate, but you can learn a similar parry in basic boxing, just less exaggerated, but the way he threw the straight punch was definitely karate. Mainly because of the stance he is in.

that is all.

GSP doesnt use karate, he uses wrestling

MAchida does use it and is getting decision wins because of his natrually fast reflexes so hes pretty elusive.. he doesnt knock people out

Semmy isnt technically all he is cracked up to be. IF he was a normal sized HW.. like 6'2 or something, he would be FUCK ALL
If you knew what the fuck you were talking about you would know GSP is a karate fighter, he didnt wrestle all through out high school.

^ the "theory" or premise in most styles of karate is:

One strike, certain death.

i think that is why the sparring is run by points and stopping.

EDIT: i was referring to the guy above you.
