Anyone who think Kyokushin sucks, should watch those two legends. Check out Glaube Feitosa also, who has one of the best chambered kicks I have even seen used.
And there are knees in Kyokushin to the head or body or legs. Elbows & punches below the neck only. Apparently they experienced too many injuries & cuts by allowing barefists to the head.
MT is the most straight-forward, simple & effective striking traditional style out there. Beyond that, you are just doing K-1 type kickboxing, which steps outside of the limitations & biases of MT (like lack of proper boxing) and incorporates other techniques from karate, kung-fu, kenpo and boxing, based on the fighter's preference and abilities.
You can't compare the two, IMO, because of the different tournament rules. Also, Kyokushin takes longer to master and is more complicated. At higher level of kickboxing competition, I would lean toward Kyokushin because of the advanced techniques. But if you take 2 newbies and send one to Kyokushin, the other to MT for a year, then have them fight, I would pick the MT guy to win each time.
