Actually Kyokushin spun off of Shotokan not the other way around. It's founder Mas Oyama was originally a student under Funakoshi who founded Shotokan and brought Karate to Japan from Okinawa.

If your an adult and your really debating for kyokushin then theres something really wrong with you or you never fought in your life.Go by what the real fighters are training in 10+ hours a week 99% of the mma fighters out there train in Wres/BJJ/MT and or Boxing none of them train in kyokushin. Those who have a black belt in kyokushin did so when they were a kid and dont actively train in it.Theres a reason why they dont train in it!

Idiot!!! Are you a professional fighter? Not all professional MMA train in MT,BJJ,Wrestling.. They cross train that's it. Most of them take MT but that's not the prove that kyokushin is useless. ANd i have never seen any MT fighter that is good in MT. Anderson Silva is good in striking but his kicks are not that good as class A MT fighter. Also GSP said that he is known as wrestler, bjj specialist but he is still a kyokushin. It will never be gone. He only took other arts when his KK teacher died.

Has anyone mentioned that that karate shit is point fighting? Hitting a guy in the face and getting a point and then restarting is alot different than being in a full blown full rules MT match.

Muay Thai is a more complete striking system that Kyokushin or any other Karate system. Karate can and does form an excellent base for combat, but all else being equal, the guy who can add elbows, knees, and effective use of the clinch to his game will beat the guy who doesn't...
