Melvin Manhoef vs. Carlos Newton

A rather interesting matchup between a striker and a grappler taking place on the August 5th K-1 HERO'S card........ I predict that Manhoef will overwhelm Newton and win via KO in the first round.

Opinions???

I would like to see Newton pull of a sub like his fight with Pele. That was a great fight. Has Newton been training stand-up lately?

I'm not sure if Newton's been training standup but all the training in the world isnt going to help him much IMO. Manhoef has very heavy and quick hands and he's going to overwhelm Newton barring any unforseen circumstances.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Newton get rushed by MM.

I honestly dont even give Newton a punchers chance against Melvin...... Nope.

Yeah glad to see Newton back, but damn, how'd he get stuck fighting Melvin?

Newton's standup is actually quite technical. He may not be a heavy hitter but he's pretty sharp.

Always like to see Newton fight, always like to see Manhoef fight!
Yeah I guess this will be a real hard one for Carlos, Manhoef has incredible explosiveness and punching power, if Carlos wants any chance he has to survive standing and take it to the ground, Carlos is still a very good "Luta Libre"-groundfighter, but if he will make it there???
I like both fighters a lot as mentioned before, but I give the edge to Manhoef, although Newton still is a fantastic ground fighter.
I hope it will be an intereting and exciting match (and I think it will be if it is not ended to early).

Carlos does a lot of boxing training and his standup skills may be underestimated a little by some indeed, but Manhoef's standup is much better anyhow.

i think that carlos will win by sub...though i wouldnt mind seeing manhouf winning cause then maybe hell come to teh UFC
