Masato's gloves

Has anyone else noticed how Masato's gloves look?

The part covering the hand is almost spherical, and the section covering the wrist appears elongated.

If you look at the pictures, you'll see that the gloves are taped very high and it appears that the padding has been forced up. The second image shows it really well as the opponent's gloves are visible for comparison.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Does anyone have any ideas as to why Masato does this and nobody else does?
All I can think of it that it forces more padding up around the hand, but I've never heard of him injuring his hands or having brittle hands.

It may look like his gloves are thicker, but the extra thickness is actually due to tanikawa personally wrapping his hands with plaster of parris.

I was mostly getting at the fact that he has his gloves taped VERY high. Look at the difference between his and his opponents gloves, in the second picture.

Thats just the way the glove is made, they're Reyes. Everlast did this aswell back in the 80s. Look at Tysons gloves in this pic. Mike Tyson, Boxing - Download Wallpaper @ Wallpaper-s.org

no, masato tapes his gloves thai-style
given that his trainer who fits him is a former lumpinee champ as well
most thais tape it high & tight for obvious reasons

I was referring to how they're taped.

Even with the new gloves, which are KING, he does the same (second picture). The text on the gloves is a good reference, and you can see that his gloves are taped around an inch higher than his opponent's.

I was thinking that, but it seems that Masato does this to a much greater extent than Buakaw.

I thought he was talking about the protruding padding between the index finger and the thumb. Unless he was talking about that, then you're right about the wrapping. But I thought he meant something else.
