This is the only part of Kid McCoy's post that I have issue with. The Japanese team from Oyama dojo went to Thailand to fight. They were trained karateka and not trained kickboxers. Otherwise that was a good post.

So really Kickboxing in Japan started in the 1990's with K-1 judging by poor 2nd rate Thai's and maybe match-fixing.
