http://www.resumma.com/news/article.asp?article_id=27

I posted this in the heavyweights, but the interview relates to both K-1 and MMA. Enjoy!

Oh and watch out Anderson:

From the interview.

"How do you think a matchup between Melvin and Anderson Silva would work out?

Well, Anderson Silva is a very good fighter. He's good both on the ground and standing up. He makes excellent counters. This fight was supposed to happen a couple of years ago in Cage Rage. So we studied him a bit, but I think Melvin is sharp and very quick. He's also very strong. Anderson has good knees and good reflexes, but Melvin is very quick.
Has Melvin trained to deal with the Muay Thai clinch of Anderson? It seems many people have trouble with it.

Yes, well but most fighters in the UFC come in from a background of grappling or wrestling. With wrestling you have some kind of clinch but you give away your head for the knees, but with Muay Thai you don't. Melvin's background is kickboxing and Muay Thai. That would be the difference. Melvin is also one of the few fighters who works with the low kick, and normally the other fighters don't work with low kicks, they work with middle kicks and high kicks. One or two low kicks slows down the reflexes of the body and the legs. For every fighter there is a different kind of strategy, and I think a fight between Melvin and Anderson Silva would be one everyone would look forward to.

Dan Henderson's fight against Anderson was good, but Dan is a bit one sided. He has good wrestling and a good right hand. Anderson Silva has two hands and two feet. If you are worn out standing up, you won't be able to do anything on the ground as well. This is what happened to Dan Henderson.

Melvin Manhoef is a beast, and out of every fighter Ive watched over the last 15 years is the only guy I can physically identify with as having a body type similar to myself. I admire his striking ability, and if I competed would surely use a similar strategy in competition.

I would love to see Manhoef vs Anderson Silva, and have wanted to see this fight for quite some time to be honest. Im pretty sure Melvin fights a tad heavier though then Anderson generally does, but Im sure something could be worked out.
