I could see Petrosyan countering Masato with leg kicks and then looking for the finish in the later rounds. Masato has his hands full, I just hope to god that judges and refs won't be crooked. Who am I kidding though? K-1 has no shame.

Don't know why you would think that, Masato's a stamina beast. His problem in tournaments is that he usually takes too much damage in a single fight to stay strong in the finals.

They need more traditional MT guys like Petrosyan and Buakaw in K-1. The only other guys i see with this style are maybe Sato and Kido.
They proved that alot of MT guys can handle stand-up fighting without the use of elbows and extended clinch.
K-1 is pretty shady though, doubt they'll let more in.
I also know that throughout kickboxing history the Japanese have always held a little bit of contempt for the Thais, mainly because they couldn't beat them, so they changed around their karate fighting style to be more like Muay Thai, still can't beat em lol.
At least that's what my old kickboxing instructor used to tell me, he's a japanese guy in his 50s, i'm surprised he isn't more prideful about his kickboxing.

I'm mostly just kidding but I do think the 'fresh Masato' line is a bit of a crutch.

I don't know man, his victory against Kyshenko in the last final was dodgy, as was his victory against Sato. Seeing that close rounds are usually scored 10-10 by K1 MAX, I don't see how Masato could have won against Sato with the knockdown. And Kyshenko looked sharper, I think, and landed more blows. And I really like Masato.

That has nothing to do with stamina though. Even if you thought that Masato lost against Kyshenko and Sato, you can't deny that he still showed better cardio than them in the last round of their fights.

Muay thai nuthugging from the TS! Every people has their own views.
Regarding Masato? Masato is no joke and his not a sloppy fighter. His stamina is great and petrosyan is becoming overrated.. .. Petrosyan hasnt been tested. If he had fought Buakaw and Souwer or Kyshenko at the same night he could have lost the tourney. He just been lucky to have weakling opponent.
