Gary Goodridge Interview

GARY GOODRIDGE INTERVIEWED ON

NATIONALLY-SYNDICATED RADIO SHOW

—Appears on Sports Corner to Discuss Upcoming Pay-Per-View Event—

LOS ANGELES — K-1 fighter Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge appeared on Sports Corner, a talk show hosted by Fred Wallin that airs nationally on the Cable Radio Network.

This Friday, June 16 at 10 p.m. ET, Goodridge will appear on the Pay-Per-View telecast Mayhem at the Mirage II, a single-elimination battle featuring eight K-1 stars, along with three Superfights.

Mayhem at the Mirage II will be available on cable systems and satellite homes nationwide June 16, 2006 at 10 p.m. ET on iN Demand Pay-Per-View and Dish Network in the United States for $29.95. It will also be shown on cable and satellite in Canada and is produced by Integrated Sports. To order Mayhem at the Mirage II, contact your local cable company or Dish Network.

Goodridge spoke about several topics on Sports Corner, including the Mayhem at the Mirage II bout.

With all due respect, you did turn 40 this year. How long do you think you can keep going?

When you start out at my age it’s old, but I’ve been using my body to earn me cash for ten years. You use the same combinations, so to speak, so I’ve been asking my body to do this for ten years and it’s just another day at the office.

My contract runs for just under another two years, but I see myself going for another three years.

You’re known for electrifying crowds.

My style is bad-ass, kick-ass, whirlwind, tornado-type. I don’t want to fight any more than I have to, I don’t want to fight for a decision or to win on points. I came into this game [K-1] late and I have the strength but not the technique to fight, so I just jump into it, getting in front of their faces, putting it on them right away. The longer I stay the easier it is for them to discover that I don’t really know what I’m doing so they can take me apart. I have the weight and the size going for me so I just say ‘deal with my tenacity right now.’” I like to kick ass and get out of there quick.

What happened in Las Vegas at Mayhem at the Mirage II?

I thought I was going to get Carter Williams [for the third fight]. I thought for sure I’m going to kick his ass, even though he’s 270 pounds [Goodridge weighed in at 237]. I thought I’d knock him out before he got a soft head, I wasn’t expecting too much from him. But he couldn’t go on, he basically grew a vagina – he didn’t want to fight a fresh Gary Goodridge. So the guy he beat [Chalid “Die” Faust] had the first choice and he was on his way to the hospital, so he took his stitches and came back in. . . . I wanted to pressure him, to knock him out. It’s a great fight to watch. It just looks like it was set up for me to win. After the first match and the second match this was the nail in the coffin. If you were a betting man watching the fight, you’d have bet on me all the way -- 99.9%.

Gary Goodridge’s next fight will be on August 12, Battle at the Bellagio V, which will air on Pay-Per-View on August 18. For more information about K-1 Pay-Per-View broadcasts, please visit www.integratedsportsnet.com.

Gary doesn't realize he just saved himself from a shovel kick to the groin that so many other opponents have suffered

It doesn't sound like Gary to me. Besides didn't he know Carter's leg was badly injured after the 2nd fight?

# 1 It is Gary's interview

# 2 Slow & Sloppy, Gary has never cliamed to be a technical fighter but slow he is not. Get off your wallet and watch the PPV and see if you have the same opinion.

Gary's good and always entertaining, but he wimped out against his first matchup with coleman and tapped without giving much of a fight... it seems like he has gotten better with age...

The first Frye was 10 years ago. Gary had ZERO Martial Arts training and an amature boxing career of around 6 months.

Fatigue and inexperience are tough to overcome with a strong and talanted wrestler on you teeing off.

Obviously their last fight shows who has grown with the sport.

Sorry you said Coleman I was thinking frye, the same applies only no re match.
