First Amateur Muay Thai Kickboxing Match
so this is my first fight obviously. im the guy starting in the far left of the ring.
i get dropped by a high kick in the first, but then i comeback in the 2nd round. 3 round is pretty close. we were both exhausted at that point. i ended up losing the decision.
so yeah, just enjoy the fight, and let me know if you have any tips/advice.

Your best asset is your hands (not saying they can't use more work, just that they are more advanced than the rest of your game).
It looks like you may be over-focusing on your strength (hands), to the point where you might be forgetting some footwork & checks.
Then again, I'm only judging from the YouTube vid, so take that with a grain of salt.

You did fuckin great. First smoker means nothing win or lose man. Trust me, it's all a matter of nerves. Just get your hands up but I know and anyone else who's ever been in the ring knows it's all a matter of nerves. Only real critique is low hands but you'll be fine after you get used to the ring.

I can only really comment on this from a boxing perspective, but to me it looked like you did very well on your first fight.
Not too sure if it works so well in Muay Thai, but try throwing your jab more, and even occasionally try double jabbing. You also dont seem to throw your high kick, but maybe thats a flexibility thing at the moment? Anyway great fight man. If you hadn't got dropped maybe you might have won the decision?

Done well. Good you gave it a crack.
Going to assume your a MMA guy or want to be, because of two things.. one, they attire your wearing, and secondly the guy in the corner.
Moving on...
Not many step up knees being thrown! When i guy tries to bridge the gap, BANG! step up knees are a great thing to drive into him! Notice i didnt say Switch knee! Step up ;)
Secondly, hand combs were thrown. Leg kicks were thrown.. The two together? didnt seem many hand/kick combos. Work on that i reakon.
all in all man, well done, good first up fight for sure. Props for getting in and giving it a show.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for actually following through on your passion, unlike most of us keyboard warriors. As for my advice, your kicks were telegraphed. You should mix them up with your hands, begin to engage with the hands and end the exchange with a kick, and also counter with kicks instead of leading with them. Wait for him to make a move and then unleash one. That is exactly what your opponent did when he caught you. Just watch the Shogun vs. Machida fight to see how you should kick. Shogun set everything up beautifully. Also, a common mistake is to bring your hands down while kicking. Your boxing I thought was better than his, and that is what turned the fight around for you. You should have used your size advantage a little more, clinched more, but I think it is a very solid start against an opponent who looked to be more experienced. Best of luck in your future fights.
