It was back in the point sparring amateur days. That's what I said. And he did beat him with a movie kick.

The guy is a mess, and appears now to have suffered some significant brain damage.
Very sad.
One of the greats of Stateside Kickboxing history.

As a bit of trivia, Alexio is from Vallejo, California, which is also where Sly Stone is from.
(Sly Stone is probably a record setter for personal self destruction in the music industry)
I wonder if theres something in the water?? ;)

Too bad, Alexio's prime was just before the K-1 days where he could have gotten some nice paychecks. He probably could have been competitive in the very early days.

I saw him about 6 years ago in Hawaii at a gym called "The Gym" in Oahu. We start talking about fights and stuff and he seemed like a pretty cool guy. Believe it or not the very next day i almost get into a fight with him over a parking space and he doesnt even remember me from the day before. Fuckin wacko. BTW, I honestly think i would have kicked his fuckin ass.

If you had said that there would have been no confusion over your post. But, what you originally said was, "back in the old full contact karate days."

That could mean the PKA for all we know.

Guys, guys. A legend? Come on, I followed kickboxing back when he was active and the guy was known as a bit of a joke in the fight world. From memory, he fought in ISKA which at the time, did not house the big name fighters. The ISKA was not heavily respected then. Longinidis had a damn hard time getting him to fight him, and when he did fight him and had his leg broken he tried to blame the break on some irregularity in the mat, not having blocked a kick from Longinidis.

Mo Smith was a far more respected kickboxer, and will openly say what he thinks about Alexio. I can't rattle off Alexio's record, but I do know that he lost to Wilson and Longinidis. He also 'beat' Branko Cikatic by delivering a king hit/sucker punch/dry gulch, whatever you want to call it, whilst the ref was breaking them apart and was actually holding onto Cikatic's hand. Also from memory, that was one of the very few times that Cikatic was KO'd. Seriously guys, a legend? No way. I don't want to disrespect any fighter but I'm afraid thats not the case.

That aside, there is a funny story about when he was learning to surf. He made a deal (in Hawaii, I think) to teach a guy kickboxing, if the guy would teach him how to surf. So this guy agrees and takes Alexio out into some seriously fucked up surf and Alexio is getting pounded and dumped by huge waves. Alexio stuck it out. After being pounded repeatedly he looked over and saw the surfer laughing at him, coughing up sea shells and shit. Alexio himself started laughing. The surfer said "What the hell are you laughing about?"

Alexio replied "Wait until I get you in the ring!"

I use old school loosely. Meaning everything prior to the MMA explosion as we know it. It was the PKA
