Yeah, Muay Thai has those two big brand-name stadiums to base their marketing on, if only we had that kind of iconography.

Each station has its own stadium. When I say "stadium" I mean big-arse shed with a ring in it. The Federation "owns" its own indoor arena at the RCAF "Old" Stadium. TV5 used to rent it after the original indoor arena at Borei Keila (from the 60s, part of the "Olympic" complex) was sold and torn down. They moved into the CABF's new arena at first but built their own at their studio in Takhmao (far edge of PP) after the rent got hiked.

CTN get the city fans and some Kandal provincials to our fights, TV5 get the Kandal province fans and some city types to theirs and Bayon get a mixture of both. TV3 will get the city fans because they are planning on moving into the vacant federation arena.

Fights here are a strictly weekend affair: Friday nights, Saturday afternoon and night, Sunday afternoon and night.

What I wouldn't give to have a name like "Raja" to be able to throw around the Khmer game, 'though...

Dreaming of the day I can say "Olympic" and have it mean something...

However, he is still amongst my favourites to watch. He had it all, defense, athleticism, power and precision.
Problem is he ran out of opponents , because no one wanted to fight him , that's even why he went to boxing ...

He is for sure one of the greatests , technically he is just pure genius , and I guess we can all agree that he must have the best straight boxing a muay thai champ displayed ( which isn't usually their strength )...

Also add Yodseanklai

He's not there yet. Hasn't fought the big fights, his record against big name legends is 0-2 thus far (orono).

To be a legend you have to either:
- fight and beat other legends, or lose and avenge the loss
- Have ridiculous domination

If Yod wins MAX a couple times, or beats tons of up and coming Thai badasses throughout his career then maybe he should be on the list. I have no doubt Yod will be amongst the greatest - he's just not there YET.

It doesn't matter if at this point Yod could kick Buakaw's ass. Buakaw will be a legend and among the greatest because of his accomplishments in k-1 and bringing muay thai into renown internationally...

2009 WPMF World champion at 160 lb
2008 Super 8 Guinea tournament champion
2008 WMC World champion at 160 lb
2008 WMC Contender Asia champion
2008 KO World Series Auckland Middleweight champion
2005 WBC Muay Thai World champion at 154 lb
2005 Champion of Thailand at 154 lb
2005 Champion of Lumpinee Stadium at 147 lb
2003 Champion of Toyota D4D Marathon at 126 lb
2001 Lumpinee champion at 112 lb

Yod's achievements pasted from wikipedia. He's been the lumpinee stadium, the most prestigious title in thailand from its minimum weight to its maximum weight where buakaw has never won that title.

It might depend where you live but in the UK the contender asia got way more exposure than max has ever done and a lot of people at my gym were inspired to pick up MT the time the show aired. Yodsaenklai brought MT more renown internationally than buakaw over here. Not saying thats true worldwide but I think he deserves to be ontheir depends how all encompassing your list is.

Sorry, titles mean very little in this sort of evaluation. It's all about who you've fought and how you've done. Personally I think neither Yod or Buakaw belongs in an all time greats list just yet on that criteria. In addition, the publicity you bring to the sport should not be important when evaluated who the best is p4p. I mean Bob Sapp brought kickboxing a heap of publicity, but I would hardly consider him an all time great

It's not easy for Yod to make that list because at 70kg, there is hardly anyone for him to fight. He's beaten some good names when he was operating at the lower weight classes (Kaew. Nopparat, Sakadpetch...) but since he's gone up to 70-72kg, there simply aren't many guys for him to fight. In Thailand, there are literally 10 times the amount of fighters to fight at around 60 kg as there are at 70kg. In the higher weight classes, Yod has beaten an old Samkor, Parr, Lamsongkram, a fading Villaume... he's obviously eager to fight anyone but it's slim pickings numbers-wise.
