k1 rules bars clinching which is dieselnoi's main arsenal. with that said, guys like kyshenko would hurt him even in his prime.

QFT....Dieselnoi had knees initially and developed some sickening elbows later in his career. Aside from that he had not too much. This was further evidenced when he tried his hand at am. boxing...with so/so results. It's funny how you read myths on the internet about how he was never beaten. He was beaten a number of times in his career...even stopped. nevertheless he has to be the greatest clincher of all time.

Samart is exceptional that goes without saying. How about Chamokpet Hapalang AKA "evergreen". He may have lost to Samart, but boy what a career and personally one of my favourites, probably the epitome of "crafty".

These two are right. Just take the recent fight Narupol had with Petrosyan. Narupol was fighting with a complete disadvantage due to one of his strengths which are his clinching and knees.

Agreeing with both you and Rawn_MT because of what InternetMonster posted. Just bringing up a more modern/recent example of what may happen.

2many great fighters it's difficult to say who's the best or whatever.

BTW:
Ramon Dekker - Coban fought eachother 4 times.

1st Coban won by KO
2nd Ramon Dekker won by KO first round
3rd Coban won by dec. (Ramon even did a ram muay afterwards)
4rd Ramon Dekker won by dec. (in France i believe.)

old interview with ramon dekker from Mike Miles National Kickboxing & Muay Thai (1994)

Mike Miles: Who was your toughest opponent in the ring? Give a few details about the fight: where, when, outcome, etc.

Ramon Dekker: Coban Lookchaomaesithong was the toughest fighter because he has the same dangerous power in his fists as I do. He also can take a lot of punches and punishment before you have a chance to knock him out. He has earned the nickname of "Buffalo Head" due to this attribute. I think I am a better all round fighter using combinations than Coban is. I have knocked out Coban once and he has knocked me out once and he has beaten me on a decision. I defended my World Title against Coban and I beat him!

Mike Miles: I trained with Coban and found him to be awesomely strong. Would you like to fight him again?

Ramon Dekker: To fight Coban again would require a personal motive, but at this time it does not add any new possibilities to my career. The Thai Champions change positions so quickly that it is always more interesting to fight the new Champions.

Tong Po is #1...just kidding! lol

My list for the best ever fighters in the "western world" is:

Bas Rutten (Holland)
Maurice Smith (USA)
Ernesto Hoost (Holland)
Rick Rufus (USA)
Jerome Lebanner (France)

I've never seen any thai fighters, but I hear they are the top dogs.
