Which is why so many young people move from Brabant to Amsterdam right? My personal experience and those who have left the farm lands is much difference. It's all personal.

Young people move to Amsterdam, Delft, Den Haag, Leiden (Randstad) for studying at a University and then move back to where they came from. There is no permanent migration among the youth whatsoever.
Look at the Statistics from the CBS, it's the same for years now. Young people from 18-24 move to the Randstad, go to College, University and then at the ages 24-30 they move back to the province they came from. And yes some stay and build a cerreer but most of them go back. Like did I, Like did almost all of the people in my class not originated from there.
The Netheralands has vast cultural diffrences, In the north people are more starightforward and often mistaken for "rude". The south is more easy going. The westerns are the farmers and call them selves proudly "farmers" and and in the upper north they are a country within a country with their own language and stuff.

"ohboy" please stop posting b4 actually knowing. the south of the netherlands are more relax, and the north knows its. its history. North netherlands was against the spanish who rules over the netherlands, the north was rebelling against the spanish king and also turned there back to katholism and lived on strict rules or something like that.
like bami said it they move to stydy there...not because they like it.

The South relax? To tight family bonds, much more religious (or religious...), much more unemployment, less educated people, more (heavy) criminality, more asocial people, etc etc.
@Babi
Migrating people don't come for education only, but also to find a job. They generally leave Amsterdam not after studying, but when expending their family. The number of people who never studied in Amsterdam but come here to work is also increasing. Amsterdam is after all the only big city that is not greying.

Migration for education is affcourse not the only reason, but it is by far the biggest group.
51% in Amsterdam is not Dutch, they are Muslim...51%!! you want to talk about thight religion?
Amsterdam is not appealing at all for living, not for one bit. I know because my complete family left Amsterdam. We originated from Osdorp, for generations. Now no one from our familiy lives in Osdorp anymore, or Amsterdam. They ALL left, they went to Lelystad, Bussum, Badhoevedorp, Hoofddorp and even to Brabant and Limburg.
More heavy criminality?? are you stupid? why do you think everybody flees the city? In the whole provinces of Brabant and Limburg are less killings, rape, gangrape, abuse, assault then in Amsterdam alone. In Brabant and Limburg are hardly any "no go area's" and there are NO gettho's. You can walk through every single street, day and night, and you can park your car in every single street you please without fair of being demolished, I don't say it doesn't happen but way less. There are no huslers who bother you wen walking in the centrum and you can get a taxi and the driver speaks fluent Dutch or English and does not try to scam you.
I would rather cut of both my balls with a rusty knife then letting my daughter go to a high school in Amsterdam. It's not even open for discussion, I would be a bad father if I did.
Another reason youngsters leave is beacuse the prizes of the houses. A student after he graduates can not afford to buy a house in a decent neighbourhood. For 200.000 - 250.000 Euro you can buy a nice house in the province. In Amsterdam you can not even buy an appertment for the same money. And no one with a right mind stays to rent a house.
Like I said before, look at the governement statistics at CBS - Home you cannot deny or discuss facts!

You should try anti-squaters residences; u usually pay around 150 a month, ex heat and water, for 3 to 4 rooms, especially in the larger of our cities...
Ad Hoc - HOME
There's an English language version of that site as well...
Most of those places have the option of renting it with some basic appliances, cooker, fridge, stuff like that... Food prices are relatively low here, I guess, but then again, my Euro is worth a lot compared to a Dollar these days... LOL For example, I'm a real big eater, I need around 3,800 kcal a day to stay at 155, and I only eat the "good" foods, fresh, rich in protein and stuff, and my grocery bill a week is like 35 euros, so not that bad...
Transportation, erm, for citywide transportation, find a junky or a homeless dude, a bike as good as new will set u back like 15 euros, so... ;) Public transportation sucks, but hell, we're really spoiled, compared to the US or UK, our PT is awesome... I still say it sucks ass tho... ;)
As far as best gyms, I'm not the guy to ask, I know Golden Glory is awesome for MMA, but, for instance, here in The Hague we have BJJ/ Submission Wrestling taught by one of KADU's top students, forgot his name, but he's pretty good... In Leiden there's a good wrestling school, but as far as I know, only for students at Leiden university, even though offering someone a beer on a Friday night might get you in (I got real lucky... LOL)... Also, if you want to learn to fight dirty, in The Hague there's always Gerard Gordeau's dojo... ;) And we have an awesome JJ-guy here as well, well we had, his son has taken over now, in Jaap Hoogendam, I was priviliged (that must be the wrong spelling... LOL) enough to, well, have my ass handed to me when I was in my teens (I taught him weight training, he taught me what pain is)...
Guess that's my two cents, hope it helps...

I just found this particular quote interesting. So is being Dutch a religion or is being Muslim a nationality?
