a proper meal will cost you around 15 euro's =22 dollars

training for 1 month you will pay between 38 dollars/50 dollars.
I'm not sure were you buy your food, but I usually eat at a restaurant for 15 euro's...

---------

Prepared meals in a supermarket are about 3-6 euro's which is IMO not that expensive.

Housing would be the biggest problem. A single room with shared facilities start from 250€ but generally cost you 400€ a month. Small apartments start from 800€ a month.

There are a few places were you can work and stay, like in hotels. Not always the best jobs, but you can be lucky.

As for the weed and hookers, statistically (facts) only for tourists because Dutch are among the lowest percentage of users in the western world.

I lived in holland for a little while...buying your oun food and preparing it yourself or buying prepared food from a market is not that expensive. They have good butcher shops and farmer's markets.

Exactly. That guy is implying that you must eat at a fancy restaurant to survive. The grocey store should work fine.

thanks alot for the info guys, anyone else who knows anything let me know! so 15 euro 3 times a day = 45 euro times 30 days in a month is 1350 euros, plus 1000 euro for an apartment, plus 45 euro for training at Mejiro for a month, so $3,709.50 US dollars (like you guys said could eat and stay for cheaper perhaps, but I'd rather know the most I should be spending rather than the least), are there lots of apartments that tourists can just rent for a month? is it likely I'd find one near the gym? will most apartment buildings in the netherlands have a washer/dryer?

I'm heading to Thailand again for 3-9 months later this year, then I'm thinking about going to Holland and Brazil

I moved out there to train at Vos in Nov. 2004. I stayed for 6 and a half months. When I first went out there I found an apartment to share with two people. It was 375 euros/480 dollars a month. Then after 3 months I moved in with one of my training partners from Vos. But yea, Amsterdam is a bit pricey. I spent about 20 euros a day on food and the tram. Great training though.

I'm assuming you mean 375 euros each, how easy was it to find an apartment? (like if i showed up, got a hotel for 5 days, would I be able to find an apartment within that time to move into when I leave the hotel?) you got around using the tram? was that easy/inexpensive?
