I've lived in Amsterdam for 23 years now ... and if you blanked out the name of the city I wouldnt even know what city you guys are talking about.

this is soooo far from what Amsterdam is really about, its not even funny.

heavy crime ... cutting of your balls before letting your daughter attend a highschool in Amsterdam ... 15 euro's per meal .... where is this Amsterdam you guys are talking about ?

You could consider finding something cheaper outside of A'dam proper and commute. There are laundromats. Check out Amsterdam Tourist Information They have a site in english, it's the official tourist information board (called the "vvv") and they offer real up to date useful info about staying in Holland.

Get your facts straight; there is a huge difference between the south east asian muslims that were brought over in the '50's for manual labour and the Marroccans and Turks in the late 70's and 80's. Also the cultural context was different and especially the numbers of them. Now you have a country where you have to call the son of the street cleaner "sir" because he's a member of parliament.
