Who is your instructor and what is the lineage of your training.

Hey all.

In another thread, I posted my grappling lineage and got positive pm and repost to mine so here it is. All wrestlers, judo, sambo, jjj, gjj, bjj, pancration, aikido, and all other grapple based arts that I may have left out. Do you know your teacher and lineage? If so post it here. It does not matter the art or how far you can go back. I used the search function and could not find any threads on this so forgive me if someone has done this already but here goes.

me < Relson Gracie < Helio Gracie < Carlos Gracie Sr. < Mitsuo "Count Koma" Maeda < Jigoro Kano

I don't know about lineage. I learn from several instructors, since I attend several places. Some of them trained at different places too. Should I list the entire tree?

Entirely up to you friend. You could do that or pick who you are with now or the last one and who he trained with.

I'm trying to see if there are any instructors who trained with instructors who trained with Karl Gotch, Jigoro Kano, Morihei Ueshiba, Gene Lebell, Gracies, etc.

But you pick.

I noticed something about my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructors:

Me > Drew Yao > Ricardo Almeida > Renzo Gracie > Carlos Gracie Jr. > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Mitsuo "Count Koma" Maeda > Jigoro Kano

Me > Sonny Achille > Pedro Sauer > Rickson Gracie > Helio Gracie > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Mitsuo "Count Koma" Maeda > Jigoro Kano

Me > Sam Warren > Gustavo Machado > Roberto "Gordo" Corrêa de Lima > Carlos Gracie Jr. > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Mitsuo "Count Koma" Maeda > Jigoro Kano

Heh that's a coincidence. I am a 6th generation BJJ artist from all of them. Here are some more rough guides, although they, like me, learned from several sources:

Me > Randy Jones > Don Garon > Erik Paulson > Dan Inosanto > Bruce Lee

Me > Bill Vucick > Eric Hibler > Erik Paulson > Dan Inosanto > Bruce Lee

Both of those linages are kinda stupid. To quote a friend, "They assume you have one instructor. If you have one instructor, you suck." None of them trained at one place, and some even trained with their instructor's instructor. But as a rough approximation, it is funny. I am 6th away from Lee there.

Very amusing, even though it's not accurate.

Note: None of my instructors are black belts, because there aren't any in my entire county. :-(

me > Jacob Whitfield > Greg Thompson > Royce Gracie

It's a MMA school but I study BJJ. GJJ really because we do a lot of self defense, takedowns, etc. I'm a lowly white belt.

Name's Greg...tall dude, brown hair, glasses, blue Machado gi. I train under Soneca at Butterini's dojo in West Knoxville. Just started this month.

The short chick with curly hair and the white MCK gi is my girlfriend. She'd been training under Casey Oxendine (another one of Soneca's boys) when she was co-opping at Eastman Chemical in Kingsport.
