Whats with all the cops training mma and bjj?

I travel and roll in a few different gyms and dojos, and in the last year it seems theres more cops coming to train than ever. Every place I go has at least a few that train there. I understand why they do it, but sometimes it seems to make the atmosphere in the room a bit stiff. When the cops are there, its quieter and people arent as relaxed. I hear a lot of guys warning others not to talk about certain things and it just seems lame. I live and travel throughout central Florida, I wonder if its like that in other places and what others think about it.

why would it make a difference if a cop is there?? unless you are a criminal or did something wrong there is nothing to worry about and cop is same like every other guy.

dont talk about weed i guess than.... but why is there less horsing around.... its not illegal to fuck around, make jokes , slap people when they dont expect it for a good laugh or whatever you mean by that

guys just need to relax and look at the cop as every other guy there, we have a cop that comes to a gym sometimes doesnt make a difference to anyone.

They should have bjj classes at the academy instead, I dont want to worry if I have a tail light out or if the cop thinks I look like some guy who stole a bike or whatever.

It's kinda the same over here as my brother is teaching a cop in his class and there are a couple where I train.

But hey how can you blame them? What better self defence is there for these guys with some of the scum bags they have to deal with on the streets?

They should turn off cop mode while in class.

I've rolled with cops before. Trust me dude, they aren't going to bust your balls if you're training with them. Fuck, I'd go out of my way to make friends with them. It never hurts to have friends on the force. Down the road you may get pulled over and it'll be one of the guys you roll with. He'll let you off with a warning no doubt.
