How is that gonna help them? Neither know jack about MMA, let alone promoting it. If money was all it took to have a successful MMA promotion then the UFC wouldn't be the only major international promotion that's been in existence for more than six months.

Shooto and Pancrase have been around longer, but it's not because of their deep pocket books.

So you're saying Affliction should pay their fighters in Volvic water?

Source: Wikipedia

Volvic is a brand of mineral water. Its source lies in the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne in the Massif Central, just to the north of the Puy de Dôme. The water's distinctive mineral content is due to the nearby volcano which last erupted in 5760 BC: geologically speaking, very recently.

The first of the springs in the area was tapped in 1922, and the first bottles appeared on the market in 1938. Today, Volvic waters are internationally known. Over 50% of the production of Volvic water is exported to more than 60 countries throughout the world. Two bottling plants produce over 1 billion bottles of water annually and are the principal employers of the local commune. In 1993, the Volvic Company was bought by the Danone Group.

Volvic claims to be highly aware of the environment. Since 1997, Volvic has been using PETE, a recyclable material, to make their bottles.

Volvic also produces a range of fruit extract drinks in Europe named Volvic Touch of Fruit. In 2005 they were introduced in North America under the brand Volvic natural.

Anyway, a serious point regarding that post, part of the reason Shooto and Pancrase have been around so long is something that Afflicition cannot count on, namely loyalty of fighters to their promotions, the fact that they offered a place for lowerweight fighters when there wasn't one, and that the market they are in is different, and was even more different back when they started.

I see your point that they can't survive and succeed purely on money, but Affliction is marketing to a very different market, and wouldn't want to be like Shooto or Pancrase regardless of the longevity it could bring, beause it wouldn't offer the potential to be nearly as profitable. Their idea of successful is probably very, very different from that of those running Pancrase or Sustain.

Seeing as Ii was four years from being birthed when Shooto was formed, I think I can get a pass for that one.
