I went to a house show right after Hogan joined WCW. There were maybe 300 people there. I was great for the fans. We were all super close. But Hogan didn't draw shit.
It was at the anaheim convention center right next to disney land. They should have had that place sold out.

How many of those millions of viewers, could you get to admit to watching that today?

Hogan left the WWF at the right time in 92 and then that brief run in 93. He should have put Bret over at Summerslam and then went heel or left for good. His ego and desire to go over and no-sell every mega heel he faced, while helping out his buddies, was stupid and he's lucky he got away with it. The fans were clearly tired of him.

Now, here it is 2008 and Hogan is more famous for his reality show and American Gladiators, then his stint in WCW. If you want to challenge this statement, I want you to keep in mind, that What Hogan did during the 80's in the "WWF" doesn't count towards his run in WCW. Sure, 100% of the american public, knows who Hulk Hogan is, but how many of those people know who "Hollywood" Hogan is? At some point, the collective majority of main stream America, froze Hulk Hogan in time, and that is the Hulkster that People remember today. Only your "true" or hardcore fans, know that Hogan underwent a radical heel change that culminated in the NWO stable. On the flipside of the coin, if you were to ask someone about Ric Flair, the name automatically is synonomous with championship reigns and the 4 horsemen. Hogan had to re invent himself several times over the course of years, just to remain relevant amongst the contemporary acts of that era. Ric Flair is now and forever the same Nature Boy that has walked that aisle for over 30 years and his work rate and mic skills are equaled by few, and surpassed by none. Ric Flair, is the ICON, that has withstood the test of time. Generations of wrestlers came as a testament, to his induction into the HOF, which is an honor that no other wrestler, past nor present can boast. Read these words and heed them well. There will not be another wrestler, that will ever be glorified, by the past, present, and future like Ric Flair. In his immortal words,
"You might not like it, but you'd better learn to love it, because it's the best thing going today."

When Flair was WCW's top guy in the 90's they weren't even making a profit.
When Hogan came in and became their top guy, within 2 years they were more than profiting, they were outdrawing and outrating Vince.
Flair had nothing to do with it. Hogan turned that company around with his heel turn.

Again, for the contemporary masses, that's fine, I will agree. But of the two, truly, who do you think will have the longest reaching impact? My vote is on Flair. Or will generations of wrestlers be finishing theor matches with a leg drop?

I'd like to know what nWo was drawing when it was just Hall and Nash. I'm sure Hogan created more viewers, but I think it was just lucky circumstances. That storyline was gold with or without him.
