Flair got the book taken away just a few months before Hogan came in.

Bischoff, Harvey Schiller, and EVERYONE in power at WCW/Turner knew that the Hogan investment needed to make WCW all about Hogan.

Hence why they brought in many familiar faces to the lockerroom (Duggan, Bossman, Honkytonk, Brutus, Kamala, etc etc), and immediately put the belt on Hogan and de-emphasized Flair.

They were right. It should've been about Hogan, it just took them 2 years to do it the right way.

Congrats Flo.

They were milking Hulkamania for all it was worth. Can't say I blame them to be honest. They took too long in getting him to turn heel though. He'd needed to for ages.

Funny, how the NWA and it's various territories made money off of Flair for two decades, before Hogan ever showed up in WCW, yet Bischoff and those in charge decided to "de-emphasize" Flair. Now, here it is 2008 and Hogan is more famous for his reality show and American Gladiators, then his stint in WCW. If you want to challenge this statement, I want you to keep in mind, that What Hogan did during the 80's in the "WWF" doesn't count towards his run in WCW. Sure, 100% of the american public, knows who Hulk Hogan is, but how many of those people know who "Hollywood" Hogan is? At some point, the collective majority of main stream America, froze Hulk Hogan in time, and that is the Hulkster that People remember today. Only your "true" or hardcore fans, know that Hogan underwent a radical heel change that culminated in the NWO stable. On the flipside of the coin, if you were to ask someone about Ric Flair, the name automatically is synonomous with championship reigns and the 4 horsemen. Hogan had to re invent himself several times over the course of years, just to remain relevant amongst the contemporary acts of that era. Ric Flair is now and forever the same Nature Boy that has walked that aisle for over 30 years and his work rate and mic skills are equaled by few, and surpassed by none. Ric Flair, is the ICON, that has withstood the test of time. Generations of wrestlers came as a testament, to his induction into the HOF, which is an honor that no other wrestler, past nor present can boast. Read these words and heed them well. There will not be another wrestler, that will ever be glorified, by the past, present, and future like Ric Flair. In his immortal words,

"You might not like it, but you'd better learn to love it, because it's the best thing going today."

Furthermore, where the hell is everyone? In the last 3-4 days, posts have declined tremendously. What is it that has people reluctant to post? This is your thread people, I want to hear what you have to say.

Honestly, you're right. Getting Hogan for WCW was actually a lucky decision. I find it hard to believe he was selling tickets and PPV buys before his heel run. I have fonder memories of WCW in the Vader/Sting/Rude era than I do of Hogan

Very well written hawk. That's exactly what I see when I think of Hogan and Flair.

Im challenging this because I'm sure the record number of viewers that were tuning in during the Monday Night wars saw and remember NWO hogan. And no way the millions tuning in where only hardcore Fans everyone knows the NWO. Also alot more people know who Hogan is and no casual fans know the horsemen.
