So, you must also acknowledge that when you call yourself successful, then you only take it as far as your own sentiments. You must also not that your claim to success is as justified as my claim that you are unsuccessful. Furthermore, this would still not deal with the claim that your definition of success is reliant on the failures of others.

When we think about what causes a given situation, we are swayed by the information that is most salient and noticeable. I usually see people's situations as due to internal, dispositional factors. Everyone has unique situational factors; I'm not arguing that, but external influences shouldn't be overly attributed to someone's situation.

So, then, if you seemingly grant external influences, then is it really accurate to say that a person is the sum of their choices?

That's fair. Although I think most people share the similar standard of success as I do.

So long as it is merely subjective, then this point is irrelevant.

Yes. It doesn't matter where you start, but where you finish. Everyone has the same chances of attending college, landing a stable job, and making a future for themselves.

Really? So, things like the white male privledge, ableism, sanism, classism, sexism, racism, do not narrow opportunities for Americans? These are just falsehoods created by sociologists to obscure an equal opportunity America, eh?
