the time limit changes everything. we ever see the best real fighter if we have time limits.
i agree completely with the gracie rules- tapout or knockout and no time limit. the fights are only boring to people who dont have much knowledge of the grappling game. nog will never beat fedor in a timed match. but he has a big chance of winning it if their is no time limit. fedor would not be able to keep that pace for 30 mins.

people like royce will never be successful under time limit because the need time to cook t he opponent

I totally agree, except that headbutts should also be allowed -- to make it more realistic, you know -- and therefore Mark Coleman is the greatest fighter ever to walk the earth.

It is what it is. I would rather see a timed fight, because guys will push the action and go for stoppages instead of waiting an hour for it to happen.

Good Luck trying to convince the athletic commissions....it's a regulated sport now & fighters either have to accept the rules and either play by them or don't play at all.

If anything and more realisticly, I'd like to see 3 different round scenarios in the UFC.
1) 3 - 5 minute rounds
2) 5 - 5 minute rounds (for high level fights like BJ/GSP)
3) 7 - 5 minute rounds (for championship fights)

i believe the only thing that save nog was the time limit. if they didn't have the time limit, nog would end up in the hospital...

Who says you can't still do that at the dojo. There's gotta be a time limit if it's ever going to be a mainstream sport though.
