Actually I heard that exactly that used to be a strategy of the Russian olympic team. They had to make it a rule that fighters practice proper hygiene prior to fights. I know that because the first tournament I entered, I noticed one of the rules was that you had to be clean and showered. I asked the organisor "You have to make that a rule?" and he told me about those dang ruskies.
