Why is rooting for Americans bad
I have a friend who's nationality is Brazilain (though he was born in America and spent his entire life in America), so he is rooting for Babalu and Shogun over Chuck and Randleman. Yet when I say I am rooting for Hughes over St. Pierre because Hughes is American, people act like I am a racist or whatever. I like St. Pierre. I even think he might win but I have to root for Hughes. When Tim fought AA. I rooted for Tim all three times. I remember being there with like 10 other people and everybody else rooted for AA. I asked myself, do you think anybody in Belarus is rooting for Tim? Not likely.
I don't want this to be a USA is the best country or USA sucks thread but simply ask why do Europeans, Brazilians, and Canadians have more patriotism then Americans? Please don't say because of the war because it was going on way before March 03.
I love MMA, USA, and the rest of the world. (Well except for the Bronx, DAMN YANKEES)

Who calls you "racist" for rooting for Americans?
If you have no other criteria for liking/disliking a fighter, nationality is as good a reason as any.
It seems like almost all British MMA fans love Mike Bisping. Why? Because he's probably the most famous fighter Britain has at this point. I don't fault Brits for liking him for that reason. (I like him too......but I'm not British.)

Why are the UFC fans called dumb rednecks for chanting USA, USA but Brazilian can make that "hey" chant everytime a Brazilian hits somebody (even if it is very soft)

"I'm not racist... but Chinese people are bad drivers, black people are thugs, white people are prejudice." Everyone is racist to their own extent whether its to an extreme or just lightly. Doesn't matter, and them calling you racist because you are rooting for an American entirely makes no sense. I didn't know American meant you had to be white. In fact the people calling you racist for rooting for Matt who is American are actually being racist and prejudice assuming that American = "White Folk". God I hate hypocrits.
