Why is Mike Swick Fighting David Loiseau?

I was just logged onto http://www.ufc.com and I seen the fight card for UFC 63. They have David Loiseau vs. Mike Swick. I know Mike Swick just beat Joe Riggs a few weeks ago and I watched David Loiseau fight before also. David Loiseau is a good fighter. Why is Mike Swick fighting him? Is this not a bad matchup for him? Usually they dont fight guys that good because what they did to Chris Leben from Ultimate Fighter Season 1. I watched him fight that big guy from japan. Me and my friends all thought that it was going to be easy like Chris Leben said it would but he got beat. Im worried about Mike Swick. My question is, does the ufc know what they are doing with this match? why not give Swick an easier fighter?

Swick isn't a TUF fighter, he can hold his own, don't know how he will do against Loiseau... I think Loiseau might end up winning but who knows, Swick is a proven fighter not just some guy off of TUF.

An easier fighter? They're testing him and looking for a new contender for the belt. I'm glad the UFC doesn't baby their fighters (well too much anyways) and gives us the matches we want to see. If you want to see undefeated fighters, go watch boxing.

If Mike Swick is really that good then it shouldn't matter who he fights. Both guys are very talented so it adds yet another awesome fight to an awesome card. I can't stand it when guys are spoon fed wins. Guys like Swick should get tested like this to prove their worth as serious threats in their division.

why not ? he just faced the champion and came up short no shame in that, this fight should really show us if swick is ready to takae on the top dawgs in the division and it will also let us know how loiseau delt with his loss and if he has what it takes to get back on track

Thats true, but usually fighters get easy fights like Diego Sanchez got Karo Payisian, and Joe Stevenson got Yves Edwards. The ufc doesnt like Swick and Leben for some reason?

Swick is on his way up and Loiseau could possibily be on his way down. it makes for a great match up!
