Why was Machida punching wood with an injured hand?
I'm as big of a Machida fan as there is and I remember reading this article about a month ago and thinking Machida was the second coming of Karate Jesus.

Fighters Only Magazine - The World's Greatest MMA Magazine - News - Machida punches piece of wood "500 times a day"

Now, however, I wonder why in the hell would someone with "bone spurs," who's needed surgery for months, be punching a block of wood 400-500 times a day? I'm still a huge Machida fan-boy but I gotta say this sounds a little fishy...

It's a good question, maybe he stopped that training after the injury? I can't believe he'd be that reckless with his training.

I try to punch mine at least once a day weather it needs it or not.
