Why the Heck did Vernon White Get a Title Shot?
Why the heck did Vernon "Tiger" White, a losing-record guy with no notable wins, get to fight Chuck Liddel for the LHW title, without even a win on his last UFC before that?

I mean seriously. Why the hell did he get that shot at UFC 47? I am frickin' dumbfounded.

Tiger got a shot at Chuck because the likelihood of him winning against Chuck was very slim. Which is just what the UFC wanted.

I can't think of any other reason. Was there anyone else to even fight him at the time though? That was back in 04, The talent pool wasnt exactly bursting then.

Yeah, I really have to question the UFC on anything but a protection of Liddel for a long time.

I am, to be quite honest, shocked as hell they let Liddel in the octagon with Rampage.

Especially with the prospects of a LHW unification bout.

Yeah.. I know this... it was for the "title shot". I think that's what TS is talking about.

Why would Vernon White get the opportunity for a title shot.

It wasn't a title shot, and if I remember correctly Chuck really wanted to fight him. Dana and Chuck are buddy's so of course he'll get to fight who he wants.

The pre fight hype was HILARIOUS, with Vernon saying '' I'm not afraid to get hit by Liddell....come on, I get hit by Ken Shamrock all the time so why should I be afraid?''


When I heard that I was like....is he joking? but he was serious all the way, which makes it that much more funny
