You mean the ones that 95 percent of americans know nothing about. Nah I'm just fucking with ya, but seriously how big do you guys think UFC is in Japan compared to Pride. I mean I know that more Japanese fans know about UFC then what US fans new about Pride or I would think so anyway.

can't do ppv buys since japan had it on tv... and believe me... there is no comparison.

the most watched fight in the US was a kimbo fight.. at 7.8 million viewers... the biggest in PRIDE kaneko and crazy horse drew over 27.7 million homes.

so... yeah... ... doing 1 million ppv is great and all... but UFC is no where near as big as PRIDE was in Japan at its peak.
That is all fine except that the 1 MILLION people that bought the UFC event paid 40 bucks a pop. That number dwarfs any income from any Pride event. Not to mention that now UFC tickets are priced in the hundreds of dollars, so selling 11 to 15 thousand of them at that price is very impressive.

No matter how you slice it there is only one conclusion, the UFC rakes in more money than any other MMA org. ever has. So the value of UFC100 to the biggest MMA org that ever existed is huge.

Mostly though i wanted to talk to the morons minimizing Lesnar as a legitimate MMA superstar. I GUARANTEE you that if Lesnar was an unknown japanese or brazilian dude that was only competing in little seen shows then you guys would be orgasming all over your keyboards over him. You would be squinting at grainy youtube videos and posting about his insane athletic ability as he crushed a string of nobodies. But because he is mainstream he is somehow worthless. His athletic ability and combat skills are ignored and his size is a detriment instead of an asset.

Lesnar is famous and therefor sucks. The UFC is popular and therefor sucks. If you moronic jerks would get your heads out of your ass's long enough to catch a breath you mind find some pretty good MMA that the rest of us have been watching.

Not even close to many MMA and especially boxing events.

Its a very good event that will make lots of money, but a lot of the hype is based on it being the 100th show even though its really not the 100th UFC and/or ZUFFA event.

As far as revenue goes, UFC 100 should earn the most money ever. As far as viewership goes, UFC 100 won't even be close to Kimbo v. Thompson, much less a major PRIDE event.

It probably is the biggest MMA event in history, just a shame that Lesnar and Mir is headlining it.

Really who gives a fuck? This is ESPN, the reason your cable bill is so high in the states and pretty much the controller of all thing sports. If they are covering MMA, in a good light, it is a good thing.

It would not be a stretch to say that UFC 100 could be the biggest MMA event ever.

"Biggest" is not only about attendance.

By that logic any major pro sport income is dwarfed also as they're not receiving PPV dollars either.

I'm not sure if we know what sort of income was resulting from one of the major Pride events. ~27 million viewers on primetime TV for an event that's probably twice as long as the typical American PPV. At that point you're not really comparing Pride with UFC anymore. What do comparable sporting events pull in for ad revenue for that sort of event? What did Fuji pay them for the rights to broadcast? Aside from direct ad revenue, what residuals are gained by the simple fact that you have 27x as many people seeing your product?
