I find it to be a boring art. I do not enjoy it at all. Karo is one of my least favorite fighters due alot to that being his main art.

Karo Parisyan is the king of Judo throws in MMA.

that IS the greatest highlight I've even seen in my life.

if you find a bautiful martia art such as Judo boring, then you must be really gay.

control - wrestling
striking - boxing/muay thai/karate
submissions - sambo/judo/bjj
takedowns and throws - wrestling/judo/greco

I think this would make up the true complete fighter. I remember Marc Liamon on teh first season of tuf saying something negative about Judo and I couldn't believe it. Here we have a very respected martial artist talking trash about Judo when he probably pulls gaurd and wraps his legs around his opponents like a monkey to take them down.

I don't see hate towards judo anymore. Some are still having difficulty understanding that it is the best grappling base for mma of the big 3 but no hate. I actually see plenty of judo fans out here these days.

Nowadays almost everybody has a good sprawl, so more often then not you gotta figure another way to get your opponent down. The throws are really pretty when executed by a true pro, but what I seem to notice that wotks the best (Fedor, Yoshida) are the sweeps from in close. They are really hard to defend against guys with good balance. Where Judo is better than wrestling I think is in the subs. But to me wrestlers seem to have better ground control and work better on the ground. Like I said I am not a practitioner so I just might be full of shit. Thought I would save some of you the time by saying it myself
Coming from someone who has a strong background in both (wrestling scholarship, Judo Brown Belt) I would say you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Wrestling is all about control. The whole point of 'pinning' your opponent is to demonstrate that you have complete control of them. That is the objective of the sport. So wrestling is important in MMA because control is important. Obviously wrestlers are also good at takedowns, because you have to take your opponent down to control them. Judo is more about submitting your opponent, and Judo focuses more than any other sport at throwing your opponent to the ground. Like I said, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

You know that judo relies heavily on control for throws and subs .....as well as holdowns....for 30 seconds. If you add submissions to wrestling then I would think it would be close.
