because Judo was invented for the Japanese so it must be bullshit!! just like Karate and all that other stuff. jk

Judo looks amazing when u see Karo, Yosh or even Nakamura do it. I was surprised to see Nakamura get Randelmen on a throw in their fight. Wrestling seems to be doing better IMO only because more people seem to practice it. Both have their advantages and disadvantages

your wrong about that, a slam is anytime to put someone down with excessive force

I think Judo is great if they can adapt it to MMA

To be honest I do not know where the hate for Judo comes from. Karo "The Heat" Pariysan as well as Spencer Fisher, Minotauro, and Fedor have soon that Judo throws if applied correctly can be effective in an MMA bout. Adding Judo throws certainly adds to a fighters arsenal and can only benefit from it. A problem some people have is that Judo requires alot of raw strength to execute devastating throws and can take alot out of a fighter (this is why Helio created BJJ). In the end i expect Judo to be more well recieved as fighters continue to adapt its techniques into their fightplan.

Judo offers another route to victory.

Like any martial art / martial sport they have moves that if trained can be applied in competition.

If your opponent doesnt train it then they will not know how to defend against it.

When GJJ came on the scene this is what it taught the martial art community. "Understanding is the key".

I see in many MMA matches where a simple judo throw could be applied but isnt because people do not train judo.

The problem with modern judo it puts full emphasis on Gi training and more emphasis on throws than groundwork so you may throw your opponent but your ground skills are limited.

If the Judo that formed GJJ was utilised you may see Judo in a different light.

Judo incorperated into MMA training is a different story, but that doesnt make judo anymore, its a hybrid then! Many traditonal martial artist cross train and then go to MMA and say "see my taekwondo is working" and i tell them "no man the armbar escape you just used wasnt takwondo" , or just like the kyokoshin guys in K1 challenege the Muay thai guys and you see them using muay thai moves themselves and then saying "kyokoshin is stronger" i tell them "no man you just did a muay thai number on that guy" !

MMA is using everything and all elements that are effctive and it is also ADAPTING individual styles to fit MMA combat.

Karo is an MMA fighter, he KO's people sometimes and that is not by using Judo. He wouldnt last 30 seconds in a fight using judo alone.
100% right!!!!

Judo is an awesome sport.

Take Fedor. When he was in his late teens, he aspired to be a Russian Olympic judoka. Close, but no cigar. Fedor experienced the heartbreak of a fighting match loss. Several times. The top Russkies and Japanese were just better than him. Yoshida!

So, he took his training and toughness and heart and specialized in Combat Sambo where his natural boxing talent shined and eventually over the years after tough wins over Arona and Sobral ... he started OWNING MMA.

That's how it happens! Fedor wouldn't be the "Emporer Cyborg" without the sleepless nights after his Judo beatdowns and the near misses in Rings. The guy is a learning machine fightwise.

Experience matters. Fedor didn't just appear out of nowhere. He fought his way to PRIDE. He knows how to lose, he did it and doesn't want to go there anymore.

Fedor has seen it all. Been there, done that. Fujita rocked him with a death blow in the temple, Randleman damn near broke his neck, and Cro Cop kept breaking his nose and face with lefts. So what for Emelianenko? He's big and strong, quick and smart as a Russian brown bear. That's the biggest, strongest, quickest and smartest thang you can find. Very Russian and the punch, punch ground game mauling RMA style of Fedor is part of Sambo and Sambo is watching the fighting style of the big boy Brown Bears. They're maulers too. Russian Martial Arts is OLD and it takes from a lot of disciplines but NEVER discount that culture's love, fear and dread of the BIG old Brown bears in their history. Grizzlies times five.

But, appreciate the World Class/Olympic Level Judo players. They forced Fedor into MMA!!! LOL
