i dont think judo is bad especially adapted to mma, but my problem with it is alot of pure judo practioners are extremely arrogant and cocky. they are pretty full of themselves and think mma in general is a joke, at least the judo club around where im living now is. a guy was tellin me a story of how like a 3 time tennessee judo champion came into the gym acting like he could throw everyone around, and then got manhandled by guys who've been in there with 3 months or less of training. its not the art but the majority of the ppl learning it.
I'm a judoka and lol at the "3-time Tennessee champ".

I am not a wrestler or Judo practitioner. To me both look preety effective at bringing down your opponent. To me this is what the BJJ guys are missing. I can´t stand when in a fight a guy jumps guard on a guy while standing, or sits there asking the guy to come into his guard. Nowadays almost everybody has a good sprawl, so more often then not you gotta figure another way to get your opponent down. The throws are really pretty when executed by a true pro, but what I seem to notice that wotks the best (Fedor, Yoshida) are the sweeps from in close. They are really hard to defend against guys with good balance. Where Judo is better than wrestling I think is in the subs. But to me wrestlers seem to have better ground control and work better on the ground. Like I said I am not a practitioner so I just might be full of shit. Thought I would save some of you the time by saying it myself

im not insulting judo or you in any way shape or form. i incorporate a lot of judo into my grappling. it might just be a local thing and i may be entirely misinterpreting, but its just that a majority of judo practioners i met so far over here have rubbed me the wrong way. their club seemed like the mcdojo, "scream and shout to look cool", kind of gym anyways

yea judo isnt as big in tennessee, and the gyms ive checked out all kind of sucked and the students/teachers were very arrogant and standoffish. only one of the gyms shouted though, and it was pretty funny. i couldnt help but crack up slightly so i felt like an ass

You can throw them but you have to set them down softly. All major suplexes are illegal, you never wrestled or you would know that.
A throw isn't neccessarly a slam... how long have you wrestled folkstyle for that you've never lat dropped anyone?

It's true, in High School wrestling you cannot slam an oponent, you must drop down to one knee before finishing the slam.
