the onlything disallowed in folkstyle are gut wrenches, and locking hands on the floor. any hip toss is not considered a slam. a vast majority of throws are legal. for instance, i knew a guy who would use exclusively drop seonage? (sp?) very efffectivley. so i think it is you my friend that do not know what you are talking about.

Because there are soo many ppl who do judo. And only very few take it seriously and get good at it. What you see at your local judo club want always look that good. Oh and american judo isnt that great either.

Yeah, but the rules in freestyle are loser about slaming than in folkstyle. Mostly because public schools aren't involved in freestyle.

Absolutely right, the only rule I knew about in High school was you had to bring your opponent to the ground under control.

I used throws in almost every single match when I was in high school. My favorites were Lat drops(over under hip toss), head traps (like Yoshida uses), and knee block suplexes(simple mat returns like Fedor uses). My favorite throw was the Lat Throw which I've never seen in MMA. My point here is that if you were tought wrestling by a good coach you don't need judo. You can learn the same takedowns at every wrestling room in Ohio.

Judo is great. I would love to see someone get KTFO'ed off of a judo throw.

i dont think judo is bad especially adapted to mma, but my problem with it is alot of pure judo practioners are extremely arrogant and cocky. they are pretty full of themselves and think mma in general is a joke, at least the judo club around where im living now is. a guy was tellin me a story of how like a 3 time tennessee judo champion came into the gym acting like he could throw everyone around, and then got manhandled by guys who've been in there with 3 months or less of training. its not the art but the majority of the ppl learning it.
