I think it was Ed 'the strangler' Lewis who said that all the wrestlers beating the judo guys was alot of horseshit.

I am a brown belt in Judo, but previous guys hit it on the head; olympic style matches are not exciting- when something happens its over and the groundgame is de-emphasized.

If you take a Judo guy, all he really has is the throws and a limited amount of newaza..I dont know how good he would be at defending the takedown..

It doesnt matter now...nowadays, kids are training BOTH BJJ and Wrestling..

If you start a kid out training BJJ and Wrestling for MMA and if you start a kid training just Judo for mma grappling the kid with the BJJ and Wrestling background is going to go a lot farther..

How about that? I think we are relatively close to agreeing with one another, on a few points. You been drinking?

I agree with the thread starter but think you have to have other weapons in your arsenal.

I can't recall the last pure Judoka to have any kind of sustained title run.
