Why do people "Hate" on Judo?

I don't get why so many mma fighters have been talking trash about Judo lately. Is it because of jealousy or just ignorance? I think some guys are afraid that they might be missing something in their training and thats Judo's highly evolved throws. Most mma fighters nowadays have great wrestling style takedowns but the only guy I've ever seen use BJJ's throws are Rickson Gracie. I think Judo is the final ingredient in any fighters gamplan

control - wrestling
striking - boxing/muay thai/karate
submissions - sambo/judo/bjj
takedowns and throws - wrestling/judo/greco

I think this would make up the true complete fighter. I remember Marc Liamon on teh first season of tuf saying something negative about Judo and I couldn't believe it. Here we have a very respected martial artist talking trash about Judo when he probably pulls gaurd and wraps his legs around his opponents like a monkey to take them down.

I think a lot of people when thinking judo, have an image in their head where two guys are tearing each others gi's while standing, and nothing happens. Oh, and when something meaningful happens, the match is over. So there. Also, modern judo seems to be focusing more and more to competition judo, and the matgame is forgotten. BJJ goes better for gorundgame, and wrestling also offers tools to get the fight into the mat. So, judo seems boring and meaningless to many. Just my 2 cents.

Ps. wtf is karate doing in the striking? ;)

No offense but you sound like you just started getting into martial arts. Ever heard of Mas Oyama? didn't think so.

What the hell are you talking about? You can use throws / suplexes in freestyle as well, its just not as common while standing. Unless these are american "folkstyle" rules, which im not familiar with.

Did I say that I think that way? No. I think judo is a very good sport, and can give a great base for mma. Don't make assumptions so eagerly.

And stop being a smartass.

Judo is hated because all traditional olympic competed martial arts are not effective in MMA if the practitioner knows only that art!! Its a fact if you are straight out karate or straight out Judo then you will not do good in MMA today or in K1 standup.

Judo incorperated into MMA training is a different story, but that doesnt make judo anymore, its a hybrid then! Many traditonal martial artist cross train and then go to MMA and say "see my taekwondo is working" and i tell them "no man the armbar escape you just used wasnt takwondo" , or just like the kyokoshin guys in K1 challenege the Muay thai guys and you see them using muay thai moves themselves and then saying "kyokoshin is stronger" i tell them "no man you just did a muay thai number on that guy" !

MMA is using everything and all elements that are effctive and it is also ADAPTING individual styles to fit MMA combat.

Karo is an MMA fighter, he KO's people sometimes and that is not by using Judo. He wouldnt last 30 seconds in a fight using judo alone.

I was talking American rules. Wrestling has suplexes but its philosophy is different as far as throws go.
