Any thoughts?

I would say BJ has a good chance.But I don't think so.
I think the next question is who could finish Diaz?
My answer is GSP via strikes.

Well is Royce considered a UFC WW? Not sure if he'd beat Nick, but it's well in his ability to sub Diaz imo.

Yeah I agree, but he's only fought children of priveledge. Hughes would put him away. GSP by decision. Great fights either way though.

i don't even think they could do it with gnp, being as nick is so slippery and slick and hard to control on the ground

Royce would lose to strikes. He would not be able to take it down. IMO

BJ could do it for sure, and you're right the opportunity probably wouldn;t present itself, but if in the small chance it did, I think Hughes and GSP could capitalize. I mean yeah Diaz is good on the ground, but he isn't immune to submissions. IF he was fighting GSP or Hughes he might underestimate their ability to submit him because it isn't their normal way of finishing a fight and leave himself open for sub. Truthfully, it's all a bunch of shoulda, coulda, woulda's, but I just personally think BJ isn't the only guy in the weight class that could submit diaz.

Agreed, but the potential is there if it did go to the ground. The question is could sub Diaz, not would. Splitting hairs a bit I know.
