If Fedor is signed, then Fedor. What they should do is put Nog vs Sylvia or AA in October and the winner take on the champ. After CC destroys Kongo, he should take on whoever Nog didn't fight (AA or Sylvia or possibly Vera if he comes back, and the winner of that fight takes on the champ. If the Champ stays Randy, they should hold off Tim as long as possible so no rematches, so it would be best for AA and Vera to be in the contender matches. And AA won last time, but not convincingly.
Best options
AA vs Nog in OCT, winner fights the champ.
CC vs Sylvia in Dec\Jan and the winner gets the 2nd to next title shot.
Meanwhile Vera could face Obrien or Werdum, maybe Monson if he's still signed, but I think I saw him on another card, or maybe the loser of Gonzaga - Couture. Obrien and Vera both need stronger comp to see where they really stand, but Vera has been off a long time and Obrien has been out since Jan, crazy stuff.

Agreed-- but with a win over a contender, I could see Dana giving Timmy a quick shot, a la Hughes.

Easy....he has 4 fights left on his deal at $350K a pop. The UFC is a business, bud, and they plan on getting a return on their investment.
However, if Gonzaga wins, I dont beleive we will see CroCop-Gonzaga II. If Gonzaga wins, I say they will bring in a little guy called Fedor for their New Years eve show.
If Couture wins, and CroCop wins, those two will fight.
AA will not get a shot with only 1 fight on his contract. AA-Vera would be a nice co-Main Event at UFC 77 or 78.

The only difference is that Dana likes Hughes and obviously does not like Tim.

Crocop v Nog will happen if Crocop gets past Kongo in London (and it will probably be for the #1 contender when it does), but that fight won't happen till the end of the year if not early 2008. (I'd bet on the December show).
However in the mean time there doesn't seem to be an obvious contender or contender fight.
Little is known of what AA is doing next (hopefully he's not beening held back for a title shot). He is the only guy on a win streak other than Vera.
Vera is still dealing with his management problems and we don't have a return date.
Werdum lost to AA so he is out of the equation (and again little is known when he is returnning!)
Sylvia is rumoured to be back in October so he could be a possibility in a #1 contender fight
None of the other HW's are close to a title shot.
Personaly I hope they are waiting on Vera to sort things out and then will have AA v Vera in October or November for the #1 contender

First time you watch the UFC or something?
This is not Pride where they mess up their fighters.
No way CC is fighting Big Nog unlees it is for the title.
If CC gets past Kongo, you might have the long awaited CC vs Randy or CC vs GG II, either way a blockbuster fight.
Then maybe Big Nog will get in the picture for a title shot.
At that point maybe we'll see Fedor vs AA as everybody wants.
so no need to have that tourney type BS, when you can have amazing fights for the belt with out ruinning anybodies careers.

Only rumor I heard for Tim was that he'll fight Hunt next.

I would say that AA or Nog are the closest. Both are top10 and both have recent wins. I would think that the UFC will set up Nog/CC, if CC gets a win in his next fight. AA will remain opponentless for awhile because nobody of worthy contention is open. For example, Vera will not sign to fight AA, or Tim for that matter, in his first fight back, but he did say he would like to fight him in his 2nd fight back. The UFC will not have Sylvia/AA4 so soon but its a possiblity in years to come. The only others left are McCully, O'Brian, Heath, because the UFC's next project, Hardonk is fighting the guy they are trying to either remove or recover in Mir.

As deep as the talent pool is getting, I don't see anybody getting a shot in their first UFC fight, even Fedor.
