Who has fought tougher oppenents Penn or GSP?

Let's see....

Penn has wins over Rodrigo Gracie, Renzo, Jens Pulver, Hughes, Gomi and Matt Serra among others....

with losses vs. Pulver, GSP, Hughes and a larger Machida

GSP's notable wins are Hughes x 2, Trigg, Koscheck, Sherk, Parisyan and Penn

with losses against Hughes and of course Serra.

Your thoughts?

They've both fought about the toughest guys they could at any point in their career. It is really just a matter of opinion but I don't think one has had it harder than the other.

Both have fought the best guys in the world. You can't really say one guy has fought tougher guys.

I'd say GSP. Rodrigo and Renzo have the Gracie name to their credit, and Renzo is probably the best MMA'er of the Gracie crew, but as a modern evolved MMAer, he is probably high B-level.

All the guys GSP beat were at or near the peak of their career best.

BJ also fought Caol Uno and Din Thomas way back in the day. Based on the length of his career, I'd say BJ for now. But damn, GSP has killed some great wrestlers in his short career.

Hmmm yes, ho KO'd Uno in a flash the first time, followed by a draw for the rematch.
